The Malaysian International Furniture Fair generated $1.21 billion in revenue for the 2023 edition, up 19 per cent from its pre-New Crown epidemic peak in 2019.The 2023 edition included 673 exhibitors from 136 countries and the industry participants.

The show resumed with events held at two venues and was attended by an estimated 19,275 professional buyers, 30 per cent of whom were foreign buyers and 40 per cent first-time visitors. Visitors came mainly from Asia, followed by North America and Oceania. In terms of countries, China had the most visitors, with attendance ahead of Singapore, the US, India and Australia.

Organizers of the show said that more than four-fifths of the show’s attendees came to purchase new products and place orders. The most popular furniture categories were dining room, bedroom, living room, office, upholstery and kitchen.

Commenting on the event, Kelie Lim, General Manager of MIFF, said, ‘The results of MIFF 2023 have exceeded our expectations. Industry professionals fully supported the vendors and new products at the show. The wide range of exhibitors and new products added to the vibrancy of the show and had a positive impact. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year on MIFF’s 30th anniversary, and we’ll be stronger and better for it.’

Buyers and exhibitors alike were pleased with the furniture exhibition. Steve Connor, a buyer from Ovis Furniture, said, ‘In my opinion, this is the best show in South East Asia and it’s great to see that the number of exhibitors at the show is increasing every year. It’s fantastic! I have been attending this event for eight years now.’

Tey Lay Hui, Head of Home Best, said, ‘This is our 29th year to participate in MIFF, which is the best platform to showcase our products to international customers.

The next MIFF is scheduled to be held from 1 to 4 March 2024, it is learned.
