On October 15, Mr. Jorge Laguna-Celis, Executive Director of the Secretariat of the One Earth Network of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and his delegation visited CEDC. Mr. Zhang Yaodong, Deputy Director of CEDC, Mr. Liu Zunwen, General Manager of CECC, and relevant staff of the International Division attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on the One Planet Network Flagship Initiative on Sustainable Public Procurement in Construction, the Global Standard for Consumer Information Programmes, the Global Report on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12.7.1, and the joint application for projects to promote the results of the One Planet Network.

Zhang Yaodong welcomed Laguna Celis and his delegation and expressed his willingness to continue to actively perform the co-leadership role of the sustainable procurement programme, and to combine the Centre’s technical advantages in addressing climate change, reducing pollution and carbon emissions, and promoting the circular economy, so as to facilitate the gradual implementation of the global strategy on sustainable consumption and production identified by the One Planet Network in the context of regional and national practices. Liu Zunwen shared his views on China’s environmental labelling system.

Mr. Liu Zunwen shared the achievements of China’s environmental labelling over the past 30 years in leading sustainable consumption and production, serving the construction of environmental governance system, realizing comprehensive performance of resources and environment, promoting the protection of human health, participating in international mutual recognition, etc. He also put forward a proposal to give full play to the technical advantages of the Centre in order to better support the sustainable public procurement programme by means of a project.

Mr. Laguna Celis highly affirmed the support of CEDC and CEEU to the ‘One Planet Network’ Sustainable Public Procurement Programme and the Consumer Information Programme over the years, and considered the meeting fruitful, and expressed his willingness to join hands with CEDC to jointly promote the process of global sustainable consumption and production practices. The meeting was highly appreciated.
